The Senior Manager EHS is responsible for implementing safety and environmental programs with to achieve long-term accident / illness prevention, environmental responsibility and awareness, employee health and safety awareness and to drive a Safety First culture. This individual will manage 2-3 EHS professionals and up to 3 EHS admin / nurse roles
Lead all environmental Health and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and to reduce workplace hazards and control losses due to accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
Develop and administer the budget for EHS, manage vendors’ safety program for EHS and PPE. Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, Supplier Quality systems

Plant Environmental Engineer 
Degree:  BS Environmental, Engineering or related technical degree

Compensation: $95,000-$110,000based on experience plus 5% annual target bonus

Must have at least 5years of plant environmental compliance background with technical expertise in wastewater treatment systems and waste management.  Paper industry experience highly preferred but not required. 
This position will provide technical guidance for the operation of a wastewater treatment system and onsite landfill (waste management).  The Environmental Engineer role will be a member of the Environmental Department and report into the Plant Environmental Manager.  The facility employs approximately (400) employees).

Specific responsibilities include:
 Provide leadership to the organization in the identification, development and implementation of areas of focus to promote continuous improvement in Recycling of secondary materials, waste minimization and cost reduction in waste disposal management.

 Work closely with remediation teams to minimize costs of remediation of past hazardous substance releases to soil and groundwater at operating facilities, while reducing risks to current operations.
 Assist Supply Chain staff with waste disposal contract negotiations and develop related waste disposal cost reduction projects in conjunction with facility staff.
 Initiate special projects to anticipate and/or respond to solid/hazardous waste and recycling related regulatory issues, e.g. Definition of a Solid Waste, RCRA waste handling issues, Delisting Petitions, Recycling exemptions, Legitimate recycling determinations, etc.
 Provide technical expertise to management, facilities and divisions where a solid waste related issue is expected to have a significant impact. Integrate waste and recycling management planning with air and water quality management programs to assure consistency, capture synergies, manage overlaps and address conflicting requirements.
 Initiate projects to capture synergies in recycling and waste treatment activities across operating facilities, as well as GSH projects to minimize overall company costs and maximize utilization of on-site capabilities.
 Support regulatory approvals for reuse of wastes and secondary materials as products to be utilized by facilities and third party customers, e.g. spent sulfuric acid, light and heavy ends to Catoxid and/or Perc reactors, etc.
 In support of HES&S Department communications, prepare and submit relevant waste and recycling information for company annual reports as well as special reports for community and company advocacy efforts. This includes waste reduction planning, TRI reporting and related release reductions, including those related to process changes at operating facilities.
 Provide periodic training on Waste related topics.
 The company is wanting to hire a subject matter expert in the area of waste management. This position will be responsible for companywide waste disposal both hazardous and nonhazardous waste. Candidate should be well versed in waste and permitting and RCRA closure. Company has waste incinerators and deep well disposal.

EHS Coordinator, Lansing, MI to 80K

Major Tier 1 automotive supplier in the greater Lansing area has immediate opening for an EH&S Coordinator. This is a high-volume metal working, machining and assembly operation with a strong leadership team in place. The EH&S Coordinator will ensure compliance with environmental regulations and ISO-14001, in addition to planning, directing and implementing health & safety programs. The EH&S Coordinator manages the plant's waste handling and disposal activities and also oversees the maintenance of Safety Data Sheets.

Other responsibilities include leading the Employee Safety Committee and directing the Ergonomics program. Will identify EH&S training requirements for employees and ensure timely completion.

Position requires BS degree (Environmental, EH&S, or related field) with at least 3years EH&S experience in manufacturing. This is a hands-on role that requires time to be spent on the production floor developing relationships with both production employees and management to promote a strong culture of safety.
